SANITARY LANDFILL

The Sanitary Landfill of the Municipality  of Patras is located approximately 10km east of the city of Patras. The total available area of the plant is 400,000m², 70,000m² of which are developed as landfill area.

The Sanitary Landfill of the Municipality  of Patras serves a population of 150,000 inhabitants, accepts 70,000 tons of municipal solid waste per year and will be operating for 18 years.

The design parameters for construction of the Patras  Sanitary Landfill conform with the most advanced specifications, taking into account the local geological, hydrogeological and surface water runoff conditions, the demands for planned phased operation and gradual site restoration, the demands for effective lining, leachate and landfill gas management, as well as the requirements for sufficient infrastructure for independent operation and continuous environmental monitoring
